Updaing OSMC<\/h2>\n

What is OSMC?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

OSMC (short for Open Source Media Center) is an embedded, minimal, self updating Linux distribution based on Debian that brings Kodi to a variety of devices. The project was founded by Sam Nazarko in 2014 and is maintained by a group of volunteers in their spare time.<\/p>\n

OSMC checks for updates on a daily basis and if a download is available you will be presented with the following message:<\/p>\n

I suggest you always select \u2018Yes\u2019<\/strong> and allow the update to be installed; this usually takes upto 10 minutes. If you select \u2018No\u2019<\/strong> you will not<\/u> be presented with this message again; instead a label just above the \u2018Favourites\u2019<\/strong> button displays the status as \u2018Update Available\u2019<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Manual Update<\/h3>\n

To apply this update you will need to follow the procedure for manually updating OSMC.<\/p>\n

This will open the OSMC menu screen:<\/p>\n

Navigate to cloud symbol (Updates) at the top:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

Select to open the Updates settings:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

At the top of the updates settings there are four tabs, navigate to the \u201cManual Controls\u201d<\/strong> tab is highlighted then move down and select \u201cScan for updates now\u201d<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

After selecting \u201cScan for updates<\/strong> now\u201d<\/strong> you will see a progress bar appear in the top right of the screen:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

Navigate to the centre symbol:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

Select the centre symbol to return to the home screen:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/div>\n

If a new update is available you will see the following message:<\/p>\n

Select \u201cYes\u201d<\/strong> to install the update this will restart the Raspberry Pi and display a very basic progress bar on the screen this usually takes no more than 10-15 minutes. Once complete it will restart again.<\/p>\n

If you see the following message then OSMC is already using the latest version:<\/p>\n
