In the case of Kodi, it allows third-party progammers to customize the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The look and feel of the user interface; we refere to these as skins<\/li>\n<li>Add new sources of media; music, videos, pictres etc.<\/li>\n<li>Fetch information from the internet and display to the user i.e. emails<\/li>\n<li>Bundle a collection of addons together with links to the latest version; we call these repositories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When Kodi first starts it usually checks for new versions of the current addons via the installed repositories. It also periodically checks for updates when Kodi is not in use.<\/p>\n<div id=\"manual-update\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Manual Update<\/h3>\n<p>If you want to make sure you have the lastest updates we can manually force Kodi to look for new versions of the installed addons. At the home screen navigate to select the &#8216;System&#8217; menu:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-831\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bulis.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/image30.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next navigate to and select &#8216;Add-ons&#8217;:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1444\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bulis.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/system-addons-menu.jpg\" alt=\"System Addons Menu\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/div>\n<p>At the Add-on browser screen you may notice a tab on the left; to open this tab we need to navigate to the left:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1445\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bulis.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/system-addons-browser.jpg\" alt=\"System Addons Browser\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Once the tab opens we can select the option to &#8216;Check for updates&#8217;:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1446\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bulis.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/system-addons-check-updates.jpg\" alt=\"System Addons Check Updates\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/div>\n<p>This will display a progress bay in the top right corner of the screen:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1447\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bulis.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/checking-addon-updates.jpg\" alt=\"Checking Addon Updates\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Move to the right to close the tab.
